School Vision
Explore, Dream, Discover - be the best you can be
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore, Dream, Discover.” (Mark Twain)
- Learners have high aspirations with a ‘have a go’ attitude and an independent spirit.
- Learning is an exciting, relevant and challenging adventure.
- Teachers nurture, guide and support to inspire and motivate every child to find their potential.
"Therefore encourage and build one another up, just as you are already doing." (St Paul)
In Mind, Body and Spirit.
Ethos and Values
Friendship, Trust, Forgiveness
Our School has established three overarching Christian values - friendship, trust and forgiveness to guide everyday life in school.
There is a strong community spirit and a sense of everyone, adults and children, working together for the same end. Our values are fostered in all relationships. Each class has a set of its own rules drawn up by the children. Positive good behaviour is encouraged at all times.
There is a daily whole school assembly and the Revd, Katharine Butterfield visit school on a regular basis and take an assembly. Children lead worship on a half termly basis and worship monitor roles are allocated.
Ozzy Owl Assembly - each class has the opportunity once a term to share their achievements and good work with the rest of the school. This can take the form of a performance or a talk. All class members are encouraged to participate. Ozzy Oscars are awarded to children who have contributed to school life in a positive way, for example good work, caring behaviour etc.
Parents have the right to withdraw their children from assemblies and R.E. Kirkoswald is a Church of England School and R.E. is taught in the curriculum. The School uses both village church buildings for various events.
Circle time is held in each class on Wednesday mornings.
