We intend for children to gain a secure grasp of the basics of the German language during Key Stage 2, including elements of speaking, listening, reading and writing. We aim for children to develop sound basic communication skills so that they can talk about themselves; ask and understand questions; and understand the language used in common everyday scenarios. We aim to foster children’s confidence and interest in learning languages, which will be studied in greater depth at secondary school.
